The One Sure Thing About Rudy Caseres is That Nothing is For Sure.
Making a living off being a mental illness advocate is extremely frustrating. I've been told more than once to treat it as simply a hobby and find a "real" career.
What these closed-minded individuals do not realize is that the hungriest are also the most passionate fighters for change.
Clearly, the way we treat the mentally ill is abhorrent.
Most assuredly, only presenting the high-functioning in the media while discriminating against and executing the most seriously mentally ill is bullshit.
I will no longer stay silent as so-called "advocates" promote the dubious notion that "everyone" living with a mental illness is able to fully recover and be a rich lawyer or doctor.
Yes, I live in poverty. But I could not care less about profiting off work I'd gladly do for free. If I were a wealthy man I **guarantee** you I would not be as passionate as I am right now (5:00am PST). Whether people throw money at me or not I **want** to stay hungry. Because the amazing (and not so amazing) people I advocate for are often much hungrier than me at any given time.

I may never afford to eat at the Magic Castle or Spago. But! If I stick to my ideals I will be at peace. And my passion will never flame out.
