This week on No Restraints with Rudy Caseres my guest is Ellen Forney. Ellen is a cartoonist and the author of the graphic memoir Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me as well as it's recently released sequel/companion piece Rock Steady: Brilliant Advice From My Bipolar Life. I had been following Ellen's work for several months after reading glowing reviews from the New York Times, NPR and Melody Moezzi for BP Magazine. It wasn't until I saw that she was doing a book signing with mutual friend and all around bad-ass Dese'Rae L Stage (who is featured in Rock Steady) that I felt like I had a chance of connecting with her. After several weeks of back and forth emails, shticker-filled messages, and missed calls we were finally able to make this interview a reality. I didn't know what to expect but thankfully Ellen and I hit it off immediately. All in all, talking with Ellen about her work as well as her views on bipolar is definitely one of the highlights of doing No Restraints so far.
